Lions in my Tummy

This past fall I was commissioned to illustration a book by author Katina Lawdis for Viscus Vir Publishing. The book is scheduled to be out in March of this year and I'm greatly exited to have an illustration project finally be published. So I will be posting a new image from the picture book each week so stay tuned for new art!

Commissions

Yes I take commissions and even have a highly informative service section of the KatGirl Studio website. So whether you're from a big company, small company or self press we have a package that can accommodate you.

KatGirl Studio Now Accepting Commissions!

The new KatGirl Studio section is up and running on both www.katgirl.net and www.katgirlstudio.com . This new part of the site houses all the information and downloadable forms needed for both private and commercial commissions. There is also a brand new F.A.Q. section and a link to join the KatGirl Mailing list on the index page. As well a few more pieces of art have been added to the galleries. So stop by and check it out!

Moving, Projects and Computer crash

Sorry about the lack of art lately, I assure you we are actually quite busy at KatGirl Studio. We have been preparing to move (only 2 weeks away), rebuilding the website (it ate itself) and negotiating contracts for major upcoming projects.

Website and Computer Crash… Again
Last month KatGirl Studio’s website decided to rewrite some of its own code (scary I now) taking the whole site down in the process. While in the midst of repairing that problem the studio computer’s 3 month old hard drive decided to kill itself taking everything that wasn’t saved to the external hard drive with it (i.e. the fixed website, 2009 contact list, various sketches and documents for upcoming and in progress projects etc.) This then seemed like an opportune moment to design and create the new sections of the site since the whole site needed to be updated anyways. So stay tuned for KatGirl Studio’s two new site sections.

Moving
KatGirl Studio will be relocating in the next two weeks to a larger space with better lighting. It’s really exciting but a lot of work. Everything that is not important has been packed away in boxes. This of course also means that we will have to file for new permits and Business licenses.

Upcoming Projects
KatGirl Studio is currently in negotiations for a few upcoming projects. However I can’t talk about them just yet. I can however talk about my children’s book, Stalking the Elusive Quetzal. The book creation is progressing along nicely and I hope to have the completed book dummy ready for viewing at Fanime.

Updates & Being Sick Sucks

As of today KatGirl will update every Monday with a new piece of art, sketch or production concept. If this goes well expect a 3-a-week schedule to soon follow. There will also be a blog post(much like this one) about what I’m up to at the studio.

To all you cool people who came by the KatGirl Studio table at Fanime work on the shiny new KatGirl.net is underway (though you have no visible proof at this moment) once that is complete, prints and other items will become available as promised. There will also be an opt-in yahoo group with a newsletter and such. I still have not resolved the book problem with lulu and so the Netherverse books are still not available at the moment.

On a side note I’m horribly sick (didn’t get out of bed till 3pm yesterday) which sucks. So things are slower going than I had hoped for my first week studio production. After I get well KatGirl studio will have official operating hours from 9-5 though the studio is not open to the public.
